In one of the brief moments we had to chat to neighbouring stands at this year’s Festival of Quilts we met Sue Schofield of Springwood House Designs. She has just launched a new publication called Fun with Leaves and it is full of leaf templates that are just perfect for our New Autumn fabric collection – don’t you agree?
If you do indulge and create something leafy (maybe a Christmas wreath, if I dare mention it so early) do send us a picture.

We’ve just heard from Krista Hennebury (award winning designer extraordinaire of Improv Under the Influence© fame, read her blog Poppyprint):
I thought you might enjoy seeing your divine fabric pictured in the Arctic beside a real honest-to-goodness igloo (okay, it was built for the Sunrise Festival welcoming back the sun on January 7th, no one is actually living in it, but it is a traditional igloo!). I was teaching Chess on the Steps in Inuvik, North West Territories in Canada’s Arctic last weekend and took the opportunity to bring some quilts for show and tell, including Lynne [Goldsworthy]’s Lonestar Circle she designed for my book Make It, Take It.
You too could make Krista’s fabulous modern quilt; go to her blog page to read the fascinating story behind the design, which has previously featured as a Modern Quilt Guild pattern of the month. It was inspired by an unnamed antique quilt and Krista’s interpretation is a colour study using five related warm-coloured and five related cool-coloured Colourshotts.

The talented Mirjam Boter has sent us a picture of her latest creation made with an explosion of Colourshotts and titled Dahlia:
It is currently hanging in the Carol Cox shop in Utrecht, who is an Oakshott Fabrics stockist and who is exhibiting at the Patchwork Quilt dagen in Rijswijk from 10-12 April 2015.
Scandinavia is the name of Oakshott Fabrics’ newest shot cotton collection.
The inspiration for this palette of eight calm, muted tones of vaporous blues, soft greys, milky whites and woody shades comes from the clean, bright, airy colours of stylish Scandinavian interiors and the ethereal quality of northern winter light.
We’ve had great fun drawing up a Scandinavia board on Pinterest full of images that echo these luminous colours.
To celebrate the launch of Scandinavia Leanne Chahley designed this beautiful quilt/wallhanging (given a sneak preview at QuiltCon in Texas) called Hint:
We love the graphic shapes and the texture the quilting gives the fabrics.
The kit for Hint is available in two sizes (40″ x 40″ / 102 cm x 102 cm or 84″x 84″ / 213 cm x 213 cm) complete with the fabric (enough for front and back) and a pattern booklet with template.
