Ingrid Huber has sent in some photos of her take on the Trip Around the World pattern using Oakshott fabrics she acquired at the 2015 Festival of Quilts and a dark red fabric from her stash:
“I choose a ‘Trip around the World’ pattern and put a different colour in the center of each pattern. So I tried to highlight each of the 9 colours … I call the quilt ‘Trips around the Silk Route’ – a name very suitable for this quilt, isn’t it? In the stripes between the blocks I quilted horses, donkeys, camels and yaks wandering around the blocks – all animals which were used for transporting goods on the Silk Route in medieval times.”
And I managed to make three cushions from the rest.”
Lovely to see how the shot effect translates as silk. Thanks Ingrid
