I’d love to know how you made this. Did you use a pattern? It’s amazing how the Oakshott gives it so much dimension.
We’ve been in touch with Janet who says:
“I layered a 5 inch square piece of Oakshott cotton with a piece of black cotton but first I taped a drawing pin, point up and approximately 1 1/2 inches away from the needle, to the bed of my sewing machine with masking tape.
I speared the centre of the square with the drawing pin and sewed a few stitches at a time. Every 2-3 stitches I stopped with the needle down in the fabric and, on my machine, the foot automatically lifts letting the feed dogs move the fabric forward and round.
Then I cut out the middles, snipped the 1/4 inch seam allowance almost up to the stitches and turned the black square through the hole and pressed the square.
When I had made 9 blocks, I put a small square of contrasting fabric behind the hole and stitched a quarter inch in from the hole.
All that was left was to put the blocks together, add a border and make up the cushion.
The orange and reds came from a ruby red pack of Oakshott cottons and the contrasts came from a mixed pack of fat eights.
