Susan Fletcher of Alderspring Design in British Columbia, Canada has just taken delivery of the new Autumn range of Colourshott (thank you FedEx!): Susan’s speciality is Sashiko. She shares the technique on her blog A Threaded Needle, which is also her retail site for Oakshott fabrics. She is now getting ready to introduce the range to you all at the Creative Stitches exhibitions in Edmonton (12-13 Sep) and Calgary (26-27 Sep).
Oakshott’s very own Michael spent time on the Pinwheel stand, which was selling Oakshott fabrics for 2015 (and is going to repeat the arrangement in 2016).
Of course, at Oakshott we love what she says about the materials she used for her Pallets runner
“I’ve also been playing around with some new cloth samples where there is a different colour on each side so that 6 pieces give you 12 colourways! How about that?”
Heather has now uploaded the pattern for the runner onto her website, which uses four Fat Eighths. Download the PDF pattern and then choose your own colour way:
Thank you Janet McCallum for showing us more ways to use the Ruby Reds.
“I used some of your Ruby Red fabrics in a quilt made for ‘In the Red’, a Cabot Quilters exhibition organised by Christine Porter. I called it ‘There’s light at the end of the tunnel’ and I made it for my sister’s big birthday present – it was inspired by the state of her bank account recently.”
“I love using your fabrics and I look forward to seeing you at the Festival of Quilts.”
At this year’s Festival of Quilts on 7-10 August you can stock up on your Oakshott Fabrics at either Stand G21, Pinwheels, or Stand N4, The Bramble Patch.

I have recently completed a quilt in Oakshott cottons which did very well at the quilt show in Melbourne – I thought you might like to have a look at it. This quilt has also been juried into the Houston Quilt Show later this year. It was a pleasure quilting the Oakshott fabrics

a table runner using 4 eighths … very closely quilted -matchstick quilting – a la modern style. It’s designed to use almost all the fabric, cutting two blocks from each piece, and shuffling the colours.
The wonderfully enthusiastic (and talented) Jacqueline Marangos not only uses and designs with Oakshott fabrics but sells them at festivals and exhibitions round France.
She has produced this beautiful little bag in Ruby Reds (kit available):

English-speaking, button-mad Jacqueline runs L’Aigulle Boutique in Burgundy and has taken Oakshott fabrics to Nantes and Paris and in July (4-6) she will be at the Festival du Lin in Normandy.

We had a chat with Nina about how she keeps up her inspiration for the amazing collection of quilts she magics up in beautiful Bavaria, the southern part of Germany, some 130 km north-east of Munich. It turns out she only started quilting in 2009:
since when I keep attending classes with Claudia Pfeil, the well known German quilt artist in Krefeld. My curiosity led me to the quilt festival in Houston, Texas, where I came to know the style of Sue Patten and Jamie Wallen. I never run out of new ideas.

Three years ago the online-store 1001quiltstiche (quilt stitches) was added, and this is how I came to know and love the beautiful Oakshott fabrics. I sew quilts to decorate my stalls at fairs. Unfortunately there is not enough time to make more as I´m always excited about the stunning effect of these iridescent fabrics.

Under the name 1001quiltyou can find my Longarm Quilt Service in Ratisbon (Regensburg). On my APQS Millennium I quilt tops as wide as 270 cm. There are no limits to quilting designs, depending on style and appearance of the quilt top and according to my clients’ preferences I choose an appropriate design. I work freehand and with stencils.
Our mouth watered at the range of quilts you can see in her colourful gallery. Thanks for sharing Nina and nice to meet your helpmate:
